Stories of Caring

Meet Ellery PattonA grant from the American Kidney Fund helped Ellery Payton with his health insurance premiums and ultimately inspired him to take action by becoming an advocate. After his first kidney transplant failed, Ellery Payton once again found himself undergoing dialysis treatments. A single father with a young son, Ellery turned to the American Kidney Fund for a grant to help him cover the costs of his health insurance premiums. Receiving that vital assistance inspired Ellery to join the American Kidney Fund’s Advocacy Network—a nationwide group of 1,500 patients and caregivers who work to educate policymakers about the issues that matter to kidney patients.
